ADEME
ADEME is active in the implementation of public policy in the areas of the environment, energy and sustainable development. ADEME provides expertise and advisory services to businesses, local authorities and communities, government bodies and the public at large, to enable them to establish and consolidate their environmental action. As part of this work the agency helps finance projects, from research to implementation, in its areas of action.
AML
The Metropolitan Plan for Adaptation to Climate Change in the Lisbon metropolitan area (PMAAC-AML) is a project of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area that aims to understand the phenomenon of climate change at local and metropolitan level and, identify the options and measures for adaptation to climate change scenarios.
The entire PMAAC-AML development process, which began in 2018 and will run until the end of 2019, is based on a bottom-up approach and, at the same time, in the promotion of knowledge transfer and empowerment of local institutions and communities for climate change adaptation.
ANI
ANI, Portugal’s National Innovation Agency, aims to support technological and business innovation in Portugal, thus contributing to consolidate the Portuguese Innovation System and to strengthen the competitiveness of the national economy in global markets.
The agency’s mission is to contribute to positioning Portugal within the group of the highly innovative European Union countries by the end of the next decade.
Climate-fit.city
Climate-fit.city translates the best scientific climate data into relevant information for public and private actors operating in cities across a range of different sectors. That means the use of information to optimize a city emergency planning, to better protect Europe’s cultural heritage, or to provide urban planners accurate information where to build parks, green areas, bike lines or how to design buildings that are future proof.
Climate Risk Management
Climate Risk Management publishes original scientific contributions, state-of-the-art reviews and reports of practical experience on the use of knowledge and information regarding the consequences of climate variability and climate change in decision and policy making on climate change responses from the near- to long-term.
Copernicus
Copernicus is the European Commission’s flagship Earth Observation programme that delivers freely accessible operational data and information services for policy-makers, public authorities, businesses, citizens and scientists alike with reliable and up-to-date information related to environmental issues. The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) has been entrusted to operate two key parts of the Copernicus programme – the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service and the Copernicus Climate Change Service as well as to contribute to the Copernicus Emergency Management Service in order to bring a consistent standard to the measurement, forecasting and predicting of atmospheric conditions and climate change.
EPAL
EPAL is the company responsible for the delivery of water to households in the capital where it has around 350,000 clients. In terms of its “upstream” operations, EPAL supplies water to 35 municipalities on the north bank of the river Tagus and, since 2015, delegated management responsibility for the multi-municipal water supply and sanitation systems of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, set up on 29th May by decree-law no. 94/2015, which integrates 86 municipalities and a population of around 3.8 million inhabitants in a territorial area making up 33% of mainland Portugal.
European Commission – EASME
The Executive Agency for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) has been set-up by the European Commission to manage on its behalf the EU programmes and projects in the fields of SME support & innovation, environment, climate action, energy and maritime affairs.
European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC)
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is the European Commission’s science and knowledge service which employs scientists to carry out research in order to provide independent scientific advice and support to EU policy.
JRC has a dual role in the area of climate change adaptation as knowledge producer and knowledge manager. In particular, JRC’s activities address (1) multi-sectoral integrated modelling of climate impact and adaptation; (2) climate-resilience for societies (natural disaster risk modelling, conflict and adaptation); (3) earth system modelling and (4) environmental monitoring (using in-situ and space-borne earth observations). JRC’s holistic approach simultaneously addresses resilience, fairness and competitiveness aspects. In particular JRC can assess the perspectives of security, eco-systems (including plant health) and economy. JRC’s dual role as knowledge producer and knowledge manager also adds to its importance in the partner landscape.

JPI Climate & Climateurope
The Joint Programming Initiative Connecting Climate Knowledge for Europe (JPI Climate) is a pan-European intergovernmental initiative gathering European countries to jointly coordinate climate research and fund new transnational research initiatives that provide useful climate knowledge and services for Climate Action in line with the Paris Agreement.
JPI Climate connects scientific disciplines, enables cross-border research and increases the science-practice interaction. JPI Climate contributes to the overall objective of developing a European Research Area and to underpin the European efforts in tackling the societal challenge of climate change.
The overall concept behind Climateurope is to create and manage a framework to coordinate, integrate and support Europe’s research and innovation activities in the fields of Earth-System modelling and climate services. The purpose of this concept is to create greater social and economic value for Europe through improved preparation for, and management of, climate-related risks and opportunities arising from making European world-class knowledge more useable and thus more applicable to policy- and decision-making. This value will be felt by a range of actors including the public sector, governments, business and industry.
Climateurope provides a comprehensive overview of all the relevant activities to ensure the society at large can take full advantage of the investment Europe is making in research and innovation and associated development of services.

TEC Conseil & CAS
Climate Research into Use
With this booth we aim to facilitate a meeting point for ECCA visitors that are engaged or interested in user-driven climate service development: putting climate research into use.
TEC (part of Ramboll) and CAS develop climate services. We focus on translating climate research into usable tools and services, such easy to use-maps and attractive visuals. Together we conducted the nationwide climate vulnerability assessment for Bangladesh. We are happy to share our findings and are open to discuss new ideas.
World Adaptation Science Programme
Making science work for climate adaptation
The World Adaptation Science Programme (WASP) has five core partners, which include the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the Green Climate Fund (GCF). It is hosted by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). The WASP has an international panel with a multi-stakeholder governance structure consisting of a Management Group, a Science Committee, and a Policy and Finance Committee.
The overall aim of the World Adaptation Science Programme is to promote science for climate change adaptation policy and action.
XDI / Climate Risk
The Cross Dependency Initiative (XDI) is a brand new project being developed to properly quantify the interdependent risks from extreme weather and climate change on critical infrastructure and essential services. The project will bring together power, water, communications, transport and government assets into a single system, in order to identify upstream and downstream vulnerabilities, and will explore opportunities for collaborative adaptation.
